Narrative Motion produces and distributes high quality motion capture animations for filmmakers and developers at affordable prices.
We are available for contract motion capture projects, but we prefer to put all of the animations we create into the Motion Library and make them available to everyone.
Focus
Natural feeling dialogue scenes between actors.
Walking naturally and generally slower for cloth simulation.
Range of Motion (ROMS) for properly testing clothing, specifically for MetaHumans.
The Problem with "Game" Animations
The majority of "game" animation packs are for third person games where motion needs to be exaggerated and snappy for gameplay feel. This style of animation doesn't work well for cinematics where characters need to move naturally. This type of snappy animation can accelerate too fast and break real time clothing simulations.
Technical
We distribute animations in the FBX format at 60fps. We support both the Unreal Engine 5 Mannequin (SK_Mannequin) and Fortnite / UEFN (FN_Mannequin) skeletons. The UE5 Mannequin one click retargets to any MetaHuman skeleton in Unreal Engine using the IK Retargeter. (Tutorials coming soon!)
We capture using a Vicon Optical system in most cases. However, certain projects may require XSens and other systems.
